Buck Rogers in the 25th Century: The Complete Epic Series
Blast off with every groundbreaking episode of the action-packed sci-fi adventure, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century! Join legendary intergalactic crimefighters William "Buck" Rogers (Gil Gerard) and Colonel Wilma Deering (Erin Gray) as they lead the crew of the starship Searcher against a galaxy of evil from the past, present and faraway future. This must-own five-disc collection presents the entire Buck Rogers series and original theatrical pilot on DVD for the first time ever. Thrill to the epic sci-fi hit that the Associated Press called "razzle-dazzle good fun."

This is another series that I got for Christmas. It is one that I used to watch all the time when I was a kid. But I somehow completely forgot as the many years went by. But then I caught an episode on Retro TV... reminding me of the series. No sooner I saw the one episode I had it on my DVD Profiler's wish-list. Then on Christmas morning I not only find a copy under the tree from my daughter... but also a second copy from a friend. But that is OK! It is good to have an extra copy... at least until I watch the entire set to be sure all the discs are working properly. Then I can let the extra copy go to a good home.

Sure the series is a bit cheesy and a bit dated. But even so... it is good fun. Of course that could be nostalgia talking... but I am having fun with it. So far I only watched the pilot movie out of the set. But I do hope to watch more before too long.

If interested... you can get this set at Amazon for $19.99 as of right now.

Sorry I missed the last couple days...
[info]addicted2dvd
My plan was to post every day possible. But unfortunately I just plain forgot on Saturday. And yesterday I had internet problems off and on all day... most sites not wanting to load at all.

Everything seems fine right now so hopefully the net problems are over now.

M.A.N.T.I.S.: The Complete Series
FROM THE CREATORS OF THE EVIL DEAD AND ARMY OF DARKNESS comes the crime-fighting saga that beats them all! Using a newly invented metal exoskeleton that provides superhuman abilities, wheelchair-bound Dr. Miles Hawkins (Alias' Carl Lumbly) embarks on a quest to rid his city of the ever-growing plague of crime terrorizing its citizens. This action-packed series broke new ground with television's first African-American superhero and became an instant cult favorite, now exploding onto DVD for the first time!

Before getting this set I only saw a couple episodes of this series as it was a syndicated series and that means around here... you never know for sure if and when it would be on. I still haven't watched the complete set. Only watched about the first disc... but what I seen so far I have enjoyed. I got this set back in 2009 on sale for only $19... but it seems I was lucky to get it so cheap at the time. I just checked Amazon and it is $44.99 now.

The premium packaging and collectible booklet make Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection the must-own, definitive anthology of gripping works by a true genius.

This is a set that a good friend gave me for Christmas. It is a gorgeous (not to mention fairly expensive) set. The main case is a well made... very sturdy... velvet covered box. The box holds multiple (3 or 4) digipaks... which hold 4 discs each. It holds all 14 movies listed above plus a 15th disc of nothing but bonus features. So far I watched the first 3 movies from the set. At this point I have no complaints what so ever. Both audio and video are crisp and clear. I can already say that I definitely highly recommend this set. It is one of my favorite Christmas presents I got this year.

If you are interested in getting this set. Right now Amazon has it for $94.99... as I said... a little on the expensive side... but I definitely think it is worth it.

Adventures of Superman: Season 1

Adventures of Superman: Season 2

Adventures of Superman: Seasons 3 and 4

Adventures of Superman: Seasons 5 and 6

Even though I just did the Superman Serials yesterday... I felt the need to do The Adventures of Superman today... as today is star George Reeves' Birthday. He would have been 97 today.

I always found this to be a fun series. It did get more devoted to entertaining kids in the later seasons... but it was still enjoyable for the entire family. I am happy this is one of the series I have every episode of in my collection. George Reeves also appeared in a very fun episode of I Love Lucy as Superman. Which I also have in my collection.

Ordered 2 More
[info]addicted2dvd
I spotted a sale over at Amazon... and just couldn't help myself to a couple more titles. This time continuing on a couple series I am already collecting. I ordered...

Medium: The Fifth Season
Patricia Arquette returns as Allison Dubois, the psychic mom who tries to balance her challenging career with her family life at home. This season, a sense of order is restored when Allison return to work with D.A. Manuel Devalos (Miguel Sandoval) and detective Lee Scanlon (David Cubitt). Plus, her husband Joe (Jake Weber) sets up his own company, funded by a multimillionaire.

But it's Allison's daughter Ariel (Sofia Vassilieva) – more than her younger sister Bridgette (Maria Lark) – who has trouble accepting the gift she inherited from her mother. This season, unsetting visions about school and boys trouble this psychic teen. In this 5-disc set of Medium: The Fifth Season – which includes all 18 episodes - Allison's life at home can be just as baffling as any police case.

I been watching this series since the pilot originally aired. And collecting the DVDs the best I could as they were released. Though I did get a bit behind. Getting the 5th season will give me 95 episodes of the series. Normally the big 100th episode comes in the fifth season... but in the case of Medium there was a couple of short seasons before this one.

Ghost Whisperer: The Fourth Season
In the hit CBS drama Ghost Whisperer, death is sometimes a new beginning. It is for Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Jim (David Conrad) when death turns their lives upside down, but also gives them a second chance at love. Journey with Melinda in this 6-disc set containing all 23 Season Four episodes and see how her relationships with Jim, Delia (Camryn Manheim), Eli (Jamie Kennedy) and Ned (Christoph Sanders) are put to the ultimate test.

This series is what made me a fan of Jennifer Love Hewitt. I knew who she was before it started... but really wasn't that familiar with her. Now I am definitely a fan. The first season of this series was pretty much all drama... sure there is a supernatural aspect to it what with the ghosts... but they concentrated on her helping the ghosts cross over. Nothing scary or anything. As the seasons went on they gradually added a bit of an horror element to the series.

With the addition of this season I will have 85 episodes of this series. Since this series was canceled last year... I now only need one more season complete this series. Which I hope to be able to complete before too long.

Superman: The Theatrical Serials Collection
Kirk Alyn sets the heroic standard for generations to come, portraying 'Superman' in these fun multichapter cliffhanger adventures. The 15-chapter 'Superman' (1948) spans our hero's first arrival on Earth to his alter-ego role as reporter Clark Kent of the Daily Planet (where Noel Neill portrays Lois Lane) through his batle with sinister Spider Lady and her relativity reducer ray. Next, while the real world faced the dawn of the nuclear age, our caped hero faced that menace and more in the 15-part 'Atom Man vs. Superman' (1950). Is Lex Luthor behind the UFO and A-bomb that imperil Metropolis? 'Naah'. He says he's just a simple repairman for those new devices called televisions!

Thanks to a good friend of mine I really gotten into the old movie serials. My absolute favorite of the serials is the superhero ones. The above set is great. It has both Superman serials. Since buying this set I have watched both of them 2 or 3 times now. Kirk Alyn does a very good job as Superman/Clark Kent. It really is a great set I highly recommend. Amazon has it for $28.99 right now... but if you don't mind buying from the Marketplace you can get it much cheaper.

Dirty Harry: Ultimate Collector's Edition
Boxset containing all 5 Dirty Harry movies as well as a bonus documentary.

This is a set I got myself a couple years back as I enjoyed the couple Dirty Harry movies I saw before then... and wanted to check out all of them. I am glad I did... because not only did I enjoy the movies but I got them all in a great set. A set that contains more then just the DVDs. There is a lot of nice bonus material that was in the box with the DVDs. Stuff like a nice book, poster and a replica of his badge. See the image below...

At the time I got this it was on sale for the crazy low price of $26.92... definitely well worth the price I got it for!

As I said... for all you get here the set is very cheap. Right now you can get it at Amazon for only $21.99... can't get many season sets of an hour long show for that price let alone a set that contains 54 episodes. And if I am not mistaken every one of these series above is hour long series as well.

In my opinion... the main downside to this set is the packaging. It comes in a customized keep case... that when you open it you get clips that holds paper envelops in place. The discs are actually in paper envelopes instead of on hubs.

Today's DVD Spotlight:

Entranced by magicians, comic strips and science fiction magazines, Ray Bradbury began "educating" himself at the Los Angeles Library three to five times a week. By 27 years of age he "graduated," having written several million words. In his early twenties, he supported himself by selling newspapers on street corners and writing for radio programs such as Suspense, Escape, CBS Radio Playhouse, and X Minus One. Bradbury has now written over three thousand short stories – 400 of which have been published in such magazines as The New Yorker, the New Republican, The Saturday Evening Post, Amazing Stories, Colliers, Dime Detective, and McCall's. He has also written for Alfred Hitchcock Presents and for Rod Serling's The Twilight Zone.

And now, showcased in this 5-DVD set are some of Ray Bradbury's finest works, featuring a plethora of stars like: Drew Barrymore, Jeff Goldbum, Peter O'Toole, Sally Kellerman, Eugene Levy, Shelley Duval, Elliot Gould, Ray Sharkey, and, of course, William Shatner (Captain Kirk - Star Trek).

When I found this complete series set a couple years back I was surprised. As it is a set that I never heard a thing about coming out. And I usually keep track of the releases... especially back then. This series lasted 5 seasons of different lengths. After 2 short seasons on HBO the series was moved to the USA Network where it did much better.

HBO
Season 1: 3 Episodes
Season 2: 3 Episodes
USA Network
Season 3: 12 Episodes
Season 4: 12 Episodes
Season 5: 20 Episodes
Season 6: 15 Episodes

It really is a rather enjoyable series akin to series such as The Twilight Zone. Though not quite as good it is still entertaining.

You can get this entire series at Amazon for only $13.99 (albeit a different cover... it is the same content)... definitely a good deal worth checking out.
